Allen Fales Obituary

Allen Roy Fales, most recently of Easton, PA.  passed away on June 1, 2019 at age 96.  He was born to the late Roy George Fales and Jesse Donalda McBain Fales on July 29, 1922 in Bronx, New York.  He was married to Kathleen Strobeck of North Syracuse, New York, January 6, 1945.  They were married 63 years.  She predeceased him on November 3, 2008. 

He graduated from  Bethlehem Central High School, Delmar, NY in 1940, and from Clarkson University in 1944 with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.

After months of special training at RPI in Ithaca, NY, he served as an ensign on a minesweeper in WWII assigned to sweep mines from Japanese harbors in preparation for an expected invasion. That invasion was made unnecessary when Japan surrendered after the advent of atomic bombs.  He was honorably discharged after a tour of duty in the Pacific.  

Allen also obtained an M.A. in Education from New York University.  His last employment was with Westchester Community College, Valhalla, New York as the Dean of Evening Division and Summer Session.  He retired in 1977.       

He is survived by 2 children Robert Allen Fales and Demetra of Quarryville, PA and Susan Fales Kachmar and Wayne of Bennington, VT; 4 Grandchildren, Timothy Allen Wood of East Dover, VT; Lisa Michelle Mbriwa and Sahr of Richardson, TX,  Daniel Phillip Fales and Julienne of Lyndonville, VT, and Jonathan Robert Fales and Rachel of Finksburg, MD.

and 15 Great-Grandchildren:  Cameron Allen Wood of Hinsdale, NH; David, Jacob, Seth and Jesse Willson and Ephraim Mbriwa of Richardson, TX; Javan, Philip, Graham, Kaylee, Silas and Touvah Fales of Finksburg, MD; and Matthias, Gisele, and Lena Fales of Lyndonville, VT

Allen is in the care of Sears Middleton Mathewson Funeral Home in North Syracuse, NY.  Following a short service in the funeral home on June 17, 2019 at noon,  Allen will be laid to rest in North Syracuse Cemetery next to his beloved wife, Kathleen.  Leave a condolence for the family on the Tribute Wall
