George W. "Buddy" Adams, Jr., 93, of North Syracuse, passed away on January 14, 2020 following a long illness. George was the son of George and Helen Adams and lived in the Syracuse area for his lifetime. George served in the Army during World War II. George worked for Syracuse Frame, Group Parts and LB Smith as a mechanic. He owned a race car which he fielded at the Oswego and Brewerton Speedways in the 1950's and 60's. George was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed trapshooting and was a lifetime member of the Bridgeport Rod and Gun Club, The Amateur Trap Shooting Association and the NRA. George enjoyed fishing, hunting and trapping and had a passion for his sawmill and land at Peter Scott Swamp.
George is survived by his loving family including his wife of 72 years, Ruth Tuttle Adams; his children, Glenn (Cathie), Michael (Dawn Hopkins) Elaine (Richard) Huff, Gary (Katherine) George, Robert (Sandi Scott); his siblings, Wesley Adams, Rose Marie (Rene) Duerr, Naomi Bergman; his grandchildren, Kristin Stevenson, Kimberly Kennedy, Samantha Wetherson, Christopher Adams, Elizabeth Adams as well as his great grandchildren, Dontay, Raegan, Quinn and Denver. George was predeceased by his siblings, Mary Adams, Georgette Bulovich and Noreen Beard.
A private memorial will be held at a later date. Donations in his memory can be made to the Bridgeport Rod and Gun Club, PO Box 117, Bridgeport, NY 13030.
