Alema Musić-Rousseau was born to Mujan and Hasiba Musić in Sokolina, Bosnia on January 16, 1973. She grew up the oldest of her four siblings; Dzenana, Hamida, Hatema and Halko.
She arrived in Syracuse, NY on May of 1997 after having to flee her home amidst the Yugoslav War. She was surrounded by strangers and didn’t know a word of English, but she was determined to build a better life for her kids.
She defied so many odds throughout her life, learned English within a year, and ended up working at IMS for 20 years where she also met the love of her life. She married David Rousseau on September 19, 2006. They were truly two halves of a whole.
She was fierce, smart, witty, and dependable. There wasn’t a single person she couldn’t make feel welcome just by her loving presence and there wasn’t a question that she didn’t have an answer to. She is survived by family, husband and her children, Anel, Adelmin, Adelma, Marijana, Taylor, Zach, Adam and David Rousseau Jr., and grand-children, Karter, Kamiyah, Kobe and Lucas.
Calling hours are Friday May 20, 2022 from 3-5pm at Sears Middleton Mathewson Funeral Home, 209 N. Main St., North Syracuse.
