Anita M. Vassallo of Syracuse died peacefully on Saturday, April 9, at St Camillus. Born in Syracuse on February 3, 1936, Anita was the second of two daughters born to the late Leo and Theresa DiBello.
Anita attended North High School and loved sharing the memories of her youth with her sister Louise and her close friends Shirley and Marlene.
Anita married the love of her life, Joseph “Sonny” Vassallo and raised three sons, Leo (MaryBeth), Ronald (Jackie) & Joseph.
Anita worked as a bookkeeper for many years at the Personnel Pool. But she will always be remembered as a wonderful Wife, Mother, and incredible chef. Anita loved to entertain and spend time with her family and friends. She had a kind sense of humor and always enjoyed a good time.
Anita’s greatest joy were her grandchildren, Leigh, Jason, Tori, Julianna, Gianna, Mia, and Joseph Jr. and her great grandson, Valentino. In addition to her parents, Anita is predeceased by her husband, Joseph. She is survived by her sister, Louise, her children and grandchildren.
Calling hours are Monday, April 18th form 11am-1pm at Our Lady of Pompei Church with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 1pm. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Anita’s name can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Central New York Chapter.
