Charles A. Owens

Charles A. Owens, 73 of North Syracuse, NY passed away on May 1, 2024 after a courageous battle of pancreatic cancer.  He and his family were blessed to have him spend his final days at the Francis House in Syracuse.

Charlie was born in Syracuse, NY on May 27, 1950 to the late Robert A. and Concetta Owens.  He married the love of his life, Judith A. Owens, on June 3, 1972.

Charlie is survived by his children, Michelle (John) Williams, of Cicero,
NY, Jason (Adrianna) Owens of Liverpool, NY, and his grandchildren, Matthew, Ryan & Drew Williams, and Graciella & Cooper Owens, who lovingly called him “Pa.” He is also survived by his brothers Richard (Beatrice) Owens, Steven (Vicky) Owens, and his sisters Mary (Michael) Graves, and Barbara Verne, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his sister, Laura Preble.

Charlie was a great family man and a loving husband, father, and grandfather.  He spent much of his time attending all of his grandchildren’s “events.” He loved music and spent many evenings going to concerts in the park with his family. He Bled Orange – Go ‘Cuse & was a Phin Phinatic – Go Dolphins, and would watch every game religiously. When
he wasn’t rooting for his favorite teams, you could find him fitting in a game at the local bowling alley with friends.

Calling hours will be held from 11:30 – 12:30 on Monday, May 6, 2024 at the Sears-Middleton, Matthewson Funeral Home in North Syracuse, NY with a service to follow.  Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery.  All are
welcome to attend and celebrate Charlie’s life.

The family would especially like to thank the staff and volunteers at the Francis House for the amazing and compassionate care they provided to Charlie and his family in his final weeks. In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to the Francis House, 108 Michaels Avenue, Syracuse or to the Cicero United Methodist Church, 8416 Brewerton Road, Cicero, NY.
