Daniel Paul Van Meter of Central Square N.Y, passed away on April 12, 2024, after a short battle with cancer. He was born to parents Lloyd and Martha Van Meter in Syracuse, N.Y.
Dan spent his entire life in the Syracuse region, graduating from CNS High School in 1985. He worked most of his career as a hardwood floor installation and refinishing craftsman. Most recently he worked as a partner with Bill Farrell, owner/operator of Central NY Hardwood Floors for over 10 years. Daniel was an avid outdoorsman and loved to snowmobile, hunt, and fish. He was the winner of the annual Cicero-Mattydale Lions Club Walleye Derby in 2012 for largest fish. Daniel is survived by many friends including best friend and business partner, Bill Farrel and Jodi Wiedenbeck, a high school classmate and lifelong friend. He was pre-deceased by sister, Elizabeth and brother, Richard and has four surviving siblings: brothers, Robert, of Burke Virginia, William of Ava Missouri, James of Central Square NY, and sister, Laura of Surfside Beach South Carolina.
Services will be held Thursday May 2, 2024 at Sears Middleton Mathewson Funeral Home, 209 N. Main St., North Syracuse N.Y. Calling hours are from 3:00 to 4:30 pm followed by a brief service at 4:30pm
