Donald Nicholson Obituary

Donald Nicholson, 80, passed away peacefully at home on March 15 with his family at his side.

He was born Aug 10, 1944 in Clay and lived in Cicero Center, graduating from North Syracuse High School in 1962. He was a member of the Air National Guard from 1965 to 1971 and worked at GM from 1965 to 1993. After that he stayed active at other jobs, the best being a grandfather. Don had a lifelong commitment to physical fitness, the Green Bay Packers and Civil War history.

He was predeceased by his parents, Leroy and Grace, sister Nioma, and brothers-in-law, Dick Yerdon, Tom and Larry Lonergan, Joe Nazario and Larry Hahn.

Surviving are wife, Patty, daughter, Anne, son, Bryan (Julie) and daughter, Sarah (John) Letos, four grandchildren, Krista (Josh) Ciccarelli, Kyle and Ryan Nicholson, and Aeden Letos, sister, Gloria Hahn, his in-laws, Chris Nazario, Sue (Mark) Fries and Patty Lonergan. Also survived by his wonderful nephews and nieces, along with their spouses, Mark, Scott, Rick, Luke, Paul, George, Joe, Eric and Ethan, Mary Beth and Pam.

Family and friends are welcome to attend a calling hour Sat, March 22 from 11-12 at Sears Middleton Mathewson Funeral Home, 209 N. Main St., followed by a service at noon. Don will be laid to rest at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Dewitt, NY.
