Donna Lee (Swanson) Steele

Donna Steele, age 74, of Bridgeport NY passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at Crouse Hospital after a brief illness.  She was born in Syracuse, NY and resided in the area her entire life.  She was a graduate of North Syracuse High School and worked for Sears and later for Eckerd prior to her retirement. She enjoyed time spent with her beloved dogs and cats, many of whom were rescued, and relaxing by reading novels by her favorite author Danielle Steel and watching game shows.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald H. and Lily Swanson and by a brother, Donald R. Swanson, as well as her long-time companion, Charles Ackerson.  

She is survived by her sons, Donald Steele of Bridgeport, NY and Brian (Anne) Steele of North Syracuse, NY, and a brother, Bruce (Juel) Swanson of Camden NY, as well as nephews, a niece and their families.  

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Luther Memorial Lutheran Church, 435 S. Main St, North Syracuse NY on Sunday October 30th at 3pm with Pastor Susan Feurzig officiating. Friends are invited to come to the church between 2pm and 3pm prior to the service to share remembrances with Donna’s family.

The family would like to express their thanks for the excellent care provided by the medical staff at Crouse Hospital.  If desired, friends may make a donation in Donna’s memory to the Humane Association of Central New York.
