Obituary
With the heaviest of hearts, we announce the passing of our cherished mom and beloved grandmother, Doris Evelyn (Mara) DeSantis. Mom departed from this world peacefully in her sleep at home on Monday, July 24th, 2023, surrounded by her family she loved dearly.
Mom’s favorite parts of life were being with family, and caring for others. She spent most of her career as a nurse working for CNYDSO, retiring after 30 years. But her calling was not complete so she returned to nursing at St. Camillus where she worked until she could no more. Her zest for life was palpable, always ready for the next adventure. Doris’ love was felt by so many, and her light was our anchor. Although she is so dearly missed by those left behind, the blessing of knowing such an amazing woman will never be forgotten.
Doris leaves behind her life partner of almost 40 years, Leo DeSantis. Her four greatest accomplishments in life, her children Chris Turnbull, David Turnbull, Robert Turnbull, and Tiffany Bezner. Her favorite bonus children, Schawn Bezner and Jen Turnbull. Her deeply loved grandchildren Kyle, Kasey, Madison, Haley, Damien, Payton and Natalia. And her four legged babies, Jack and Daisy.
Please join us for a Celebration of Life on August 12th, 2023 at 116 Gail Lane, Syracuse, NY from 3pm-6pm. Bring a memory to share, or a story to regale, and let’s celebrate everything she was.
