Douglas Lloyd Donahue was born August 12, 1946 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Ruth and Richard Donahue. The family eventually relocated to Baldwinsville, NY where he graduated high school and met many lifelong friends. He went on to attend the University of Miami and Syracuse University where he excelled in both English and writing. Doug had a way with words both in life and on paper. He was a member of the Army National Guard. His love of building and creating led him to develop East Coast Construction. When he moved to Key West, Florida he took great pride in working with Habitat for Humanity where his construction skills took on greater meaning. He was not afraid of a good time and the tropical charm of Key West became his home away from home for years to come. Doug embodied the meaning of a free spirit and he loved good music and was known to have some galactic dance moves out on the floor of life. Nothing he did was of the ordinary and his presence will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his daughter Heather Donahue Whiting, Tricia and Tony Indelicato, and three beautiful grandchildren; Ella, Bianca and Valentino. He is predeceased by his wife Debbie and son Richard Donahue. Contributions can be made by volunteering your time, serving or delivering a hot meal to a person in need, being kind to animals and holding a generous smile. Rock on and go get ‘em Duke, much LOVE
