Douglas H Platt, was born June 16th, 1926 in Jersey City NJ, to Floyd and Marion Platt. He died March 12th 2024, after a weekend surrounded by friends and family, following a brief illness.
Douglas was a self employed water well driller. And a proud WWII veteran, where he was a rear gunner for the Navy.
He was pre-deceased by his wife Maryann, his parents, all of his siblings, and two grandchildren.
Douglas is survived by his estranged son: Douglas Platt of Polk City FL, daughter: Lynn Morris(Carl) of Oswego NY, son: David Platt(Liz) of Summit NJ, ten grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren, as well as many friends he collected along the way.
The family finds comfort knowing that he is at peace and reunited with his loving wife of 60 years, and prior to his passing he had enjoyed a full adventure filled life. Including family trips to many coastal towns where he visited lighthouses, museums, and battleships galore, day trips to Disney and Circus World, he was happiest when he was with his family. Douglas was not a stranger to adventure, on his 90th birthday he went skydiving, 91st birthday he went paragliding, 92nd birthday he flew a glider. Douglas was honored to be included in the Honor Flight that flew out of Syracuse in September of 2021 and would talk about that day and his experiences all the time.
The family would like to thank Crouse Irving Hospital, and all of the nurses and aides from the second floor at Loretto Fahey.
For those who want to honor his life, donations can be made in his name to 60 for 60 Mohawk Run or Honor flight Syracuse NY.
There will be no services as per his request.
