Eric Walter “Rick” Dorn

Eric Walter “Rick” Dorn, 75, of Syracuse and Manlius, NY, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2026. Rick was known for his sharp wit and sense of humor. He enjoyed golf, cards, swimming, and conversation, and was devoted above all to his children and grandchildren. His friends consistently noted that he was always there when they needed him.

Born and raised outside Albany in Castleton, Rick graduated from Manlius Military Academy and went on to earn a degree in political science from Hartwick College. He worked his way from the docks to Upper Management in the family business, before starting his own ventures.

Rick was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Mary; his brother, Robert Dorn; and his daughter, Erica. He is survived by his daughters, Lisa, Tricia (Glen), and Simone; his sons, Alex and Levi; his brothers, James and Phillip; and his grandchildren, Taylor, Isabella, Hunter, and Mickinley. He also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews, as well as dear friends, acquaintances, and members of the small business community.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, June 24 from 4-7 pm at Sears-Middleton-Mathewson Funeral Home, 209 N. Main Street, North Syracuse, NY. A funeral service will be held on Thursday June 25th at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 68 Green Avenue, Castleton-on-Hudson, New York. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery in Castleton-on-Hudson.
