Essalene Ziegler Obituary

Essalene Ziegler (Ziggy) died March 28 at Elderwood at Liverpool where she had been a resident for 4 years. Born April 18, 1929 in Varick, NY. Ziggy lived in Mattydale for 58 years. After graduating from Crouse-Irving School of Nursing in 1951, she worked in Waterloo, NY before marrying and moving to Syracuse.
 

She worked at Crouse Irving Memorial Hospital for 37 years. She was an active member of Calvary United Methodist Church for 50 years, participated in school activities when her children were young, served on the Mattydale Youth Center Board, acted with the Clay Towne Players and played with the West Hill Croquet Club. She traveled extensively in the United States and to Europe once. Survived by her son John and wife Deirdre of Buffalo, daughter Beth Sears and husband Donald of South Brunswick, NJ. Grandchildren Lucas Magyarics, Andrew and Joshua Ziegler and Laura and Emily Sears. She is also survived by good friend and caregiver Cindy Clarke and “surrogate” granddaughter Jessica Clarke Kopp.

The family sincerely thanks all the staff at Elderwood at Liverpool for their excellent care.

A Memorial Service will be held 11 AM Saturday July 25 at Sears-Middleton-Mathewson Funeral Home A calling hour is 10AM to 11AM at the funeral home, 209 N. Main St., North Syracuse.
