Fern (Silliman) Merritt

Fern D. Merritt, 85, of Liverpool, passed away March 1, 2022. Survived by husband of 64 years, William "Bill"; her children, Dawn (Phil) Dexter,Albany area, William Merritt III, Liverpool and Stephen (Linda) Merritt from Texas; grandchildren, Philip (Iina) Dexter, from Finland, Nicole Dexter, from Vermont and Acton Merritt, from Texas. Several Nieces and Nephews.   Private Services.

She graduated from Rensselaer, NY HS and attended Albany State Teachers College.  She often did part-time office work while her children were in school.
Fern was a loving wife and mother.  She loved to sew.  She made many "look-alike" outfits, often for the whole family of 5.  She enjoyed craft projects.  She loved cooking-- always trying new recipes.  Her children fondly recall all the parties she prepared for them and their friends, often with a theme. She was a leader in youth groups.  They were fairly active in the United Methodist Church for years.
After her husband retired from Niagara Mohawk they started traveling, often with their little dog, Pepper.  They visited the major National Parks, and have slept in every state except Alaska.  They have visited Europe several times.
She will be sorely missed and never forgotten..

Visiting hours will be held at the Sears Middleton Mathewson Funeral Home, 209 N. Main St., North Syracuse on Friday March 18 from 10AM - 12 PM.
