Frederick A. Melvin

Frederick A. Melvin, 82, of Cicero, passed away October 13, 2019. He was born in Liverpool, NY.  He graduated from Liverpool high school and was a foreign exchange student in Germany. He was employed by Oberdorfer Foundry and  also worked for  Amoco in Cortland. He had a green thumb, loved gardening, liked to travel and was interested in history. 

He was predeceased by his parents and also his wife, Janet Shavalier Melvin in 2005.

He is survived by his children, Douglas Melvin of Pennellville, Carol Owens-Tomlin of Cicero, Linda Fehlman of East Syracuse, Arlene Davenport of Baldwinsville, Brenda Billings of Phoenix, NY, Karen Gauger of Sterling, Patty Mesterhazy of Liverpool and  Jean Paone of Baldwinsville; 15 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; two sisters, Susan Melvin of Evanston, IL and Joyce Crump of Liverpool and one nephew John Crump. 

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11am in Sears Middleton Mathewson Funeral Home, 209 N. Main St., North Syracuse. Burial will follow in Pine Plains Cemetery, Clay. Callinghours are Wednesday from 4-7pm at the funeral home.
