Gregory A. Chapman, 63 of North Syracuse passed away May 27, 2021 at home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous fight with pancreatic cancer. Greg was born in Syracuse on March 3, 1958 to the late Robert and Jeannette (McDermott) Chapman.
Proud of his service to his country, Greg was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army in the 1st and 26th Infantry. He spent most of his working career in the trucking industry. First, as a driver, then an executive and lastly running his own company. After retiring he enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson, and spending summers at Brennan’s Beach with family and friends. Greg fulfilled many of dreams in his short life. One last dream was accomplished when he traveled the country in a motorhome and lived in Florida for the winter this past year. Greg was known for his kind ways and always giving heart. He leaves behind many people that he considered family. He will be remembered for his great advice and many stories. Greg is loved and will be forever missed.
Greg is survived by his wife, Cheryl (Ryan-Bush) of North Syracuse, his sons, Michael Chapman of Murfreesboro, TN and Michael Bush of Charlotte, NC; great niece, Aurora Dwyer; two brothers, Robert and William McDermott; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday June 2 from 4:00PM-7:00PM, at Sears-Middleton-Mathewson Funeral Home, 209 N. Main St., N. Syracuse, NY. A graveside service will be at 11:00AM Thursday June 3 at Belle Isle Cemetery in Warners, NY.
