H. James Schoolcraft passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 7, at the age of 76. He was born on June 19, 1949.
Jim was predeceased by his beloved wife of 46 years, Patricia Hanley Schoolcraft. He is survived by his loving partner, Mary Ann Wert, and by his children, Chris (Elizabeth) Schoolcraft and Carrie (Justin) Rudgick. He was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren: Owen, Rhilynn, Camden, Eric, and ChristopherRudgick and Connor Schoolcraft.
Jim grew up in Sterling, New York, and graduated from Hannibal High School. He went on to earn his degree from SUNY Potsdam, an accomplishment he valued deeply. Jim worked as a computer technician at Unisys Corporation for his entire career before retirement.
Jim enjoyed an active life and had a love for golfing, hiking, camping, traveling, and boating. Above all else, he cherished time spent with family, whether playing cards, sitting around a campfire sharing stories and laughter, or attending Syracuse University sporting events, which were a particular favorite. Jim’s warmth, steady presence, and appreciation for simple moments left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Calling hours and funeral services will be held on Friday, February 13, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Sears-Middleton-Mathewson Funeral Home, located at 209 North Main Street, North Syracuse. Burial will follow in Pine Plains Cemetery, Clay
Jim will be remembered for his devotion to family, his quiet strength, and the many memories he created with those he loved.
