Harley Sanders Obituary

CARTHAGE, NY – Harley Robert Sanders, 27, of Carthage, NY, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones, on July 12, 2024, following a 4-week stay in the Upstate University Hospital Burn Unit.

He was born on July 23, 1996, in Watertown, NY, the son of Harley P. Sanders and Samantha (Lane) Sanders. He graduated from Carthage Central School in 2014. He was a roofer and worked on the railroad.

He was passionate about fishing, hunting, and golfing. He had a “need for speed” and always lived his life to the fullest. He loved music and going to concerts to see his favorite artists. He adored his son, Winston, and loved spending time with him, his significant other, Madisyn, and his family and friends.

For those who know and love Harley, his passing is a tragedy. We will always remember Harley’s great sense of humor, smile, and pure soul. He will never be forgotten, and our hearts will forever feel the loss and emptiness of his absence.

Harley is survived by his son, Winston Patrick Sanders; his significant other, Madisyn Stevens; his parents, a sister Halli (Palladino) Dailey; a brother Joseph Palladino II; paternal grandparents, Robert “Bob” and Joanne (Rivers) Sanders; his aunt, Prudence (Sanders) Sheltray; his uncle, James “Jim” Sheltray, all of Carthage; his aunt, Tracy (Richard) Montelongo; his uncle, Troy Lane, all of Georgia; his uncle, David “DJ” Nefsey of Clayton, NY; his aunt, Michael (Dan) Stevens of Dexter, NY; and many beloved great aunts, great uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Jerry Lane of Georgia; maternal grandmother, Louwanna (Bell) Nefsey of Carthage, NY; and maternal cousin, Terry Daugherty of Florida.

In lieu of funeral services, a Celebration of Life will be held on July 27, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Carthage American Legion Post 789. We will be serving Harley’s favorite meal, homemade spaghetti and meatballs, Italian bread, and tossed salad. Anyone is welcome to bring a dessert to share.
