James Sheldon Obituary

On Monday, March 16th, 2026, the world lost an amazing man. James (Jim, Jimmy) Sheldon passed away at Oswego Hospital following a battle with ALS.

Born in Oswego, NY, Jim was the son of the late Vivian (Parkhurst) Clarenc (Iggy) Sheldon. He was a devoted husband, having married his best friend and the love of his life, Bonnie (Halsey). They shared nearly 54 wonderful years together. He and Bonnie have resided in Scriba while raising their two children, Kelley and Kevin.

Jim graduated from Mexico High School in 1965 and worked for Industrial Precision for nearly 50 years. He also served the town of Scriba as a councilor/deputy supervisor for 12 years.

Jim found great joy in the outdoors and in the company of those he loved. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family and friends, especially making great memories with his wife, kids, and two wonderful grandsons, Payton Nelson and Eli Sheldon.

Jim will be remembered for many things. He always kept a ‘beautiful’ lawn, which reflected his attention to detail and pride of his home. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone. He loved watching sports, going to ballgames, and concerts.

Jim was preceded by his parents and his sister, Barbara Liedmann. He is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie; his children, Kelley and Kevin; his grandsons, Payton and Eli; and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 16th, 2026, at 9:30 AM at Lycoming Methodist Church, with a gathering to follow at Noon at the Driveway Inn for Food and Memories.
