John Kurtz Obituary

 John “Teddy” Kurtz, 85, of Lacona, NY passed away peacefully at Crouse Hospital January 11, 2022. He was born on October 26, 1935 in Chicopee, MA to the late Adam and Magdelina (Stonina) Kurtz both of Poland. He was preceded in death by his loving siblings, Florence, Freeda, Ellen, Harry, Fred and Ed. John was a graduate of Holyoke Vocational School and received a Diploma in auto mechanics.

John moved to New York where he retired and made his home in September of 1992.  Before and during retirement John loved hunting and fishing and broke many records in MA for trapping and hunting. John spent the last 30 years in Lacona. John devoted many years to his passion for trapping, hunting and Fishing in MA as well as NY.  When John didn't have a gun over his shoulder or a fishing rod in his hand, he had Polka music in his ears.  John spent his spare time on weekend mornings listening to the sounds of his friend Lenny Gomulka and the Chicago Push as well as Molly B, Happy Louie, Jimmy Sturr and many more.  When John was not hunting, fishing or listening to his Polkas he loved going for long rides and stopping along the way to visit with friends, spending much time over coffee talking about his adventures in the woods, fields and streams.

John is survived by his close friends Eugene Boardway, Norman and Gail LeClair, Doreen Lupa as well as many, many more from MA and NY. John was well known and loved. He will be missed by all.

Due to the present situation, a celebration of life will be held for John on Saturday August 13th at 2pm at 1908 County Route 2, Orwell, NY. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the charity of your choice in John's honor.
