Lillian Schirber Obituary

Lillian Schirber, 89, passed away on Tuesday April 23, 2019. She was born in Syracuse, NY. Lillian was a good student and athlete. She later enjoyed trips with friends to NYC to enjoy Broadway plays.

Growing up, around Christmas, her father would create huge, elaborate hand carved villages and host open houses. This inspired her to become creative and artistic.

She and her (predeceased) husband, Matthew (Methodist and Catholic) joined North Syracuse Baptist Church in the 1980s. They enjoyed traveling with their many new life-long friends. Lillian enjoyed her time as President of her church group. She was always willing to cook a meal for those in need.

Cooking was her passion. When daughter, Deborah (survivor) got engaged, friends commented on how lucky future son-in-law William (survivor) was able to enjoy Lillian’s home cooked meals frequently.

She enjoyed going out for a good steak but was also, so looking forward to the opening of the newest Brooklyn Pickle and Old Country Buffet. She had no sisters (predeceased by 2 brothers), but close friend, Helen always thought of her as a sister. They enjoyed many laughs and Helen’s stories about growing up with Robert DeNiro. Both Lillian and Helen passed on and close to Easter Day. Lillian was kind, quick-witted and had a great sense of humor. She was just FUN to be around.

Services will be held in the future to celebrate her life. Also survived by several nephews and her rescue cat.

Contributions may be made to Humane Association CNY, 4915 ½ W. Taft Rd., Liverpool, NY 13088. Leave condolences for the family on the Tribute Wall
