Margaret C. Roberts

Margaret C. Roberts, (June 15, 1937-August 20, 2022). Our dear mother Margaret passed away on August 20, 2022 peacefully at the age of 85.  She was residing happily at the Cottages Skilled Nursing Facility, in Cicero NY, due to her safety and well-being needs as well as a long bout with Covid and after a recent stroke.  She was a breast cancer survivor.

Born to Clayton and Mary Fraser on June 15, 1937, she was raised in Port Leyden NY.  On August 6,1960 she married David C. Roberts and they resided in Syracuse NY.    

She was employed at Grand Union Headquarters in Syracuse until starting a family.  After her children had grown, she became employed by the music and drama department at Syracuse University for several years.  She was most fufulled by her five children, 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.  Syracuse University Basketball was her passion and she enjoyed attending the games at the Dome.  She was a devout parishioner of St Rose of Lima Church in North Syracuse for over 50 years.  She loved to read, bake and play cards with her brother Bill. Her family fondly remembers Thursday nightsauce, her famous chocolate cupcakes, cookies and coffee cakes (which she delivered to over 50 family and community members every year at Christmas). She will forever be loved.

Preceded in death by her parents Clayton and Mary, loving sisters, Rose (Donald Robinson) and Patricia (Mike Arengi) and brother, Joseph (surviving-Shirley).  She lost her husband in 2005. 

She is survived by her brother, William Fraser (Maryann-2019), as well as her children Scott, Creig, Lisa (Chuck), Beck (Tammie), Jill (Jeff), and her beautiful 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Thursday August 25 from 4:00-7:00pm at the Sears Middleton Mathewson Funeral Home, 209 N. Main St., North Syracuse. A mass will be held at St Rose of Lima Church on Friday August 26 at 11:00 am. and burial will follow at 1:30pm at the Booneville Cemetery. Donations can be made to the Cancer Society and American Heart Association.
