Mary Lou VanDenburg Obituary


Mary Lou VanDenburg, 81, of Pennellville, NY, passed away quietly on April 25, 2019. Mary Lou grew up in South Bay, New York residing on Oneida Lake.  Mary Lou was a graduate of North Syracuse High School.  She retired from General Electric Company as a Secretary after 14 years of dutiful employment.  While working at General Electric, she went to night school to get her cosmetology license from Detotos.  After retiring, Mary Lou loved traveling and sailing with her husband, Carl on their 36-foot sailboat cruising the Great Lakes between the U.S. and Canada. 

Mary Lou was the widow of Carl VanDenburg who passed away in 2010.  She was predeceased by her parents, Irene and Einar Andersen, her brother, Robert (Barbara)  Townsend, her sisters Norma (Cliff) Carey and Jeanne (Bill) Boyle and sister-in-law, Sylvia Anderson. Mary Lou loved her family and her many friends who gave her great joy in life.

Mary Lou is survived by her beloved sister, Joanne (Robert) Coughlin and brother, John Anderson, as well as many other loving family members.  Funeral services will be Monday April 29, at 10:15 AM in Sears Middleton Mathewson Funeral Home and 11:00 AM in St. Joseph the Worker Church, Liverpool. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Baldwinsville. Calling hours will be Sunday April 28 from 2-5pm at the funeral home, 209 N. Main St., North Syracuse, NY.
