Michael John Romeo, Sr.

Michael John Romeo, Sr., 81, died September 20, 2024. Born on March 5, 1943 to the late Anthony and Francis (Cummings) Romeo. Michael grew up in Massena, NY and graduated from Massena Central High School in the class of 1961. Mike was a standout baseball player for the Massena Red Raiders from 1958-1961. He gained fame as a pitcher but was also great behind the plate. The team were champions of the Northern League. After high school, Mike was drafted to the MLB and pitched for the St. Louis Cardinals. With all of his accomplishments on the field, he eventually was inducted into the Massena Athletic Hall of Fame. Aside from being a fantastic baseball player, Mike served his country in the Army with distinction and honor. Mike is survived by his loving wife Carol (Wilcox) Romeo, children Michael J. Romeo, Jr (Tara), Garrett and his daughters Ashley and Nicole, Tim, Becky and her daughter Emily, his adopted daughter Lily Snyder (Dana) and their twin boys Jace and Carter as well as their daughter Charlotte, sister Pat Visser and her children Robert and James as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 30th at 11am at Sears Middleton Mathewson Funeral Home, 209 N. Main Street North Syracuse, NY 13212.
