Richard E. Benz

Richard Benz, 82 of Cicero passed away December 23, 2021. Born in Detroit Michigan, Richard was a decorated Vietnam War Veteran.  He served with the United States Air Force for over 20 years. He was stationed in the UK, Germany, Minnesota and numerous other places before retiring at Hancock Field in Syracuse.  Rich then worked at the US Postal Service in Syracuse.

He enjoyed the outdoors, spending many summer days boating and fishing on Oneida lake with friends. 

He is predeceased by his father, Erwin Benz, mother and stepfather, Myrtle and Jack Godfrey, brother, EJ and son, Micheal Benz. 

He is survived by his daughters, Sharon Craig of Fayetteville, Michele (David) Rahner of Camillus and grandchildren, Hannah and Colton Rahner. 

Private services were held at Sears-Middleton Mathewson Funeral Home followed by Military Honors at the Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Contributions can be made to the Syracuse Veterans Hospital or Disabled American Veterans Chapter #309.
