Roberta J. “Bertie” Cannito, 77, of Schroeppel, passed away peacefully on October 7, surrounded by family. She was born in Oneida to Stephen and Agnes (Highers) Putman. She married Frederick in 1967.
A graduate of Stockbridge Valley Central Schools and Central City Business Institute in Syracuse, she enjoyed a successful career as a paralegal retiring early from Mackenzie Hughes LLP to care for her grandchildren. Bertie most enjoyed cheering for her grandchildren, watching the hummingbirds at the River, quilting, gardening and baking.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Frederick; daughter Mary Cannito-Coville and son-in-law Charles Coville Jr.; grandchildren, Ian, Isaiah and Nadia Coville; sister Connie (Walt) Fort; brother Robert (Chong Suk) Putman; siblings-in-law Anthony Cannito and Anita (Jeffrey) Pescosolido and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. l
She is predeceased by her parents and brother Steven.
Visiting hours will be Monday, October 13th from 11am-1pm at Sears Middleton Mathewson Funeral Home, 209 North Main Street (Rt 11), N. Syracuse, NY with a short service to immediately follow.
