Salvatore Borregine Obituary

Salvatore (“Sal”) G. Borregine was a lifelong resident of Syracuse. He was born in Syracuse on October 26, 1932 to Gaetano “Guy” and Josephine Borregine (Panto). In July of 1952, Sal proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. He earned the title of Chief Aviation Mechanic and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. Following his honorable discharge in 1956,

Sal returned to Syracuse to help manage his family’s business, Salina Fish Market. Shortly thereafter, he established Sal’s Seafoods, his longstanding successful business in North Syracuse. In his retirement, Sal continued his lifelong passion for building, flying, and talking about radio-controlled WWII model airplanes. Sal was known as a superb scale-model airplane builder and received contest awards for accuracy in historic detail, precision, and scale. In addition to his parents,

Sal was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Josephine; his brother Angelo, and his loving wife of 65 years, Josephine “Josie” Borregine (LaMacchia).

He is survived by his children: Michael (Kim), Tom, Linda (Gary), Laurie (David) and Lisa; and his seven cherished grandchildren: Stephen, Ana, Maria, Nicholas, Justin, Malia, and Ella, as well as many nieces and nephews. Sal was a devoted husband, cherished father, grandfather, uncle, and friend to many. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Services with military honors will be private.
