Sandra Jean (Monson) Pettit

Sandra Jean Pettit, 77, of Theresa, NY, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2024, surrounded by the love of her family. Born in Forest City, Iowa, to Thomas and Frances Monson, Sandy brought warmth and joy into the lives of everyone who knew her.

Sandy is survived by her devoted husband of 42 years, Larry Pettit, and her children, Bret Hutchins and Brad (Amanda) Hutchins, as well as her stepson Michael (Lynn) Pettit and stepdaughter Michelle (Drew) Taylor. She was the proud grandmother of six grandchildren: Hannah (Marshall) Shake, Mason Taylor, Jacob Taylor, Tucker Pettit, Gabrielle Pettit, and Raena Hutchins. Sandy is also lovingly remembered by her brothers, Thomas (Rosemarie)  Monson and David (Barbara) Monson, along with her nephew Tommy (Ei) Monson. 

A woman with a vibrant spirit and a love for life, Sandy cherished time spent at her lake home in Alexandria Bay, NY. She found joy in simple pleasures: lively gatherings with the “Women, Wine, and Wisdom” group of Clear Lake, monthly dinners with the Senior Citizens of Alexandria Bay, and cherished conversations during lady luncheons or in her sunroom at Lake Waldena. Sandy had a passion for the outdoors, whether she was tending to her flower garden, enjoying the lake on her pontoon boat, riding motorcycles and snowmobiles, or slow dancing with her husband.  In quieter moments, she found solace in a good book and the company of family and friends. Sandy’s legacy is one of love, laughter, her smile, and cherished memories. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all whose lives she touched.

A private celebration of her life will be in the summer. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.
