Susan Leigh (Dimon) Wallace

Susan Leigh (Dimon) Wallace, 73, departed this world March 10 in her home in North Syracuse, NY. Sue was married to her loving husband, Paul Wallace, for 49 years.  

Sue was a beloved mom of three, Ben Wallace (Idaho), Chelsea Ingrassia (N. Syracuse), and Heather Murphy (Fulton, NY). She has 6 siblings, Sally (Speculator, NY), Myron Jr. (Skip, N. Syracuse, NY), Sandy (Canton, NY), Sydney (Natick, MA), Sheila (Andover, MA), and Shelly (Merritt Island, FL). She also has 4 well-loved grandchildren.

Sue is predeceased by her parents, Myron and Gladys Dimon.  



Susan graduated from Oswego High School (1968) and SUNY Buffalo (1972). She received her Master’s in Motor Learning through Columbia University. Susan was an Occupational Therapist in Rochester General, Hoboken, NJ, and the North Syracuse school system, having retired in 2018, and Hear 2 Learn, having retired in 2020.  



Susan brought her family together with her organizational and decorative skills. She loved colors, especially painting her home.  She is likely decorating and painting the many mansions in heaven. Sue was involved in several committees at The Gathering Place (NSBC) and played violin beautifully. She also enjoyed traveling with her family, having visited France, England, Ireland, and several trips to National Parks in the western US and Canada. She volunteered in Liberia for a month doing occupational therapy. She also backpacked multiple peaks in the Adirondacks. She also ardently helped renovate the family cottage in Fair Haven. Sue had a special knack for gardening and landscaping.


Calling hours will be held Friday, March 15th from 4-7pm at Sears Middleton Mathewson Funeral Home, 209 N. Main St., North Syracuse. Funeral service will be Saturday March 16th at 11am with visitation from 10:15-10:45am at The Gathering Place, 420 S. Main St., North Syracuse. Burial in spring.
