Timothy Jon Singer

Timothy J. Singer, aged 64, passed away on July 24, 2023. He was a beloved son, father, grandfather, brother and friend whose presence enriched the lives of all who knew him.

Timothy was born in St. Louis, MO, in 1959 and lived in Syracuse throughout his life. He earned his Bachelor's degree from SUNY Cortland and a Master's degree from SUNY Oswego.

Timothy dedicated over 35 years of his life as a counselor at OCC (Onondaga Community College) earning numerous awards for his service and the title Professor Emeritus upon his retirement. Throughout his career, he touched the lives of countless students, offering guidance, empathy, and support.Timothy's impact extended beyond academics, as he was especially active in the veterans association at OCC and the athletics departments.

Timothy is survived by his mother Shirley, his children Jeffrey and Kelly (Eli), grandsons Samuel, Miles, and Calvin, brother Harold (Diane) and many loving family members. He is predeceased by his father Harold and his brother Matthew. 

In addition to his dedication to his profession, Timothy had a deep passion for sports. He was an avid fan of baseball and hockey, finding joy and despair in supporting the NY Mets and Syracuse Crunch. He was president of the Seneca River North Little League and volunteered as a coach for many sports teams. 

Calling hours will be held on Friday, July 28, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Sears Middleton Mathewson Funeral Home located in North Syracuse. Friends and family are welcome to pay their respects and share memories of Timothy during this time.

The funeral service to honor Timothy's life will take place on Saturday, July 29th, at 10:00 AM. The service will be held at Sears Middleton Mathewson Funeral Home, 209 N. Main St., North Syracuse. 

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to SUNY OCC or the American Diabetes Association.
