Verna M. (Houde) Lane

Born Verna Marie Houde, October 28, 1931 to Cecil (Hunter) and Vernon Houde.  Verna passed December 2, 2022, at the age of 91, comfortably in her home. 

Verna was loved by her parents, 2 sisters, and 5 brothers.  She was admired by her 3 children and 1 stepdaughter.  Verna was adored by her 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Verna was an avid collector and doll lover.  She was committed to volunteering and crafting.  She was a go-getter and participated in anything and everything she could.  

Verna was born in Onondaga County New York, and moved to California in 1976.  In California she worked as an inspector for General Dynamics, and met the love of her life Charles “Chuck” Lane.  They were married in Hawaii July 9, 1983.  They had 17 happy years together before his death.  Verna returned to New York in 2018.  Verna fought returning breast cancers in her final years and ultimately succumbed to the cancer that spread to her lungs.

Verna is preceded by her mother and father,  Cecil and Vernon, her husband Chuck, her sister Beverly, and five brothers, Alfred, William, Vernon, Robert, and Chetwin.

Verna is survived by her sister, Joyce, her children Teena, Chip, Carole and Deb.  Her grandchildren Brandy, Nichole, Jason, Jade, Ashley, Teena, Sabrina, Gordon, Terra, and Justin.  Her legacy includes great-grandchildren Arianna, Walter, Cyrus, Alice, Camee, Riley, Regan, Liam, Luna, and Oliver.

Honoring Verna’s wishes, there will be no formal services.  Cherish your memories of her.
