Travers, W Lawrence "Larry" passed on the 3rd of May after a brief illness. He was born and raised in the CNY area, son of Walt and Betty, brother of Peg. He acquired an extensive education that spanned multiple US states and lasted thru his working years and beyond. He forever yearned to learn. His career with the State lasted many decades and took him to many places, here and abroad, ending at the state's Capital.
As he shared in recent days, he lived a good life. Travel to many states allowed him to experience what each offered, bringing him fulfillment. His time in multiple countries through the years broadened his commitment to help others. He was blessed with opportunities to enjoy so many cultured luxuries that this life had to offer. He found great enjoyment in the incredible performances during his many trips into the city and Canada. He was afforded a period in which he lived in the big city which was his dream life. Not many can say they lived that dream. From there, he made his final retirement plans returning upstate to spend his time closer to family.
One of his cherished adventures was his Aerobatic time flying so free above the earth without restraint and limitation. I truly believe that exemplified his mantra: "liber vivere in praesenti momento" and "'Carpe Diem". Live free in the moment and in that moment, seize the day. That drive and incentive is a gift left to us all.
He leaves behind so many people who he knew professionally and personally during his many decades. Additionally, the many extended family members, less those passed, of his parents generation. The foster siblings, of whom a few stayed close thru his lifetime, gave him bonus joys along the way. Lastly his sister, Peg, who was a surprise upon returning from college and evolved to be his best friend and sly executive assistant. She was support for him thru his final moments.
During those later years of his life, he opted to give opportunities to several animals whose futures were deemed questionable... Some he picked, others picked him. He held dear memories of those that have passed. His last little buddy was the perfect support for those off days in recent years.
If chosen, a memorial gift in memory of Larry can be sent to Wanderers Rest Humane Association Inc, 7138 Sutherland Dr., Canastota, NY 13032
Per his wishes, no formal services will be held. He will be laid to rest with his parents at a later date. Rest easy in the eternity, free of all that held and hurt you. Till we meet again.
