William Kazmer Poworoznek, 92, of North Syracuse passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 4th at the VA Medical Center in Syracuse.
Born in Oswego, Bill was a proud Navy veteran of the USS Chopper submarine during the Korean War. After an honorable discharge, he worked 34 years at Carrier Corp as a production assembler before becoming a production foreman. After retiring from Carrier, he worked 4 years for the North Syracuse School District. He was also a long time communicant and volunteer of St Rose of Lima church and belonged to the Syracuse chapter of the Knights of Columbus.
Bill enjoyed the outdoors and had a passion for camping which he shared with his wife Rita and family. He especially loved camping in the Adirondacks in the fall and would always have a peanut ready for that curious squirrel or chipmunk.
Bill was predeceased by his wife Rita of 65 years in January 2023. Surviving are his four children; Bill (Susan) Poworoznek, Dick (Gina) Poworoznek, Bob (Lisa) Poworoznek, Lynn (Rich) Richer; seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, May 15th from 2-5 p.m. at Sears, Middleton, Mathewson funeral home at 209 North Main St (Rt 11), North Syracuse. A service will follow at 5 p.m at the funeral home.
